Motivational Quit Smoking Tips For A Smoker

In January almost every smoker makes a New Year’s resolution to quit smoking.  Each year more than half are not able to fulfill their commitment.  Maybe some smoking quit tips will help them achieve their goal. 

The first of these quit smoking tips would be to visit your family doctor.  He will be able to assess your current physical condition.  When you have been smoke free for several months get another physical check-up.  You will more than likely see an improvement in your heart rate and lung capacity.  This should make you want to achieve your final objective to remain smoke free the rest of your life.

Lay out your objective.  Is your strategy to stop immediately or over several weeks or months?  Current data shows that quitting cold turkey has the best results.  Your physician may also be able to offer you some quit smoking tips and possibly a prescription for a nicotine alternative.  Be prepared for the various side affects that some of these medications can cause.

Make a dental appointment.  Get your teeth cleaned and whitened.  Taking the time and money to do this and seeing a beautiful smile will be another motivational tool to stay away from those nasty cigarettes.  Another advantatge is not having the typical smoker's breath.

Also on the quit smoking tips list is being prepared for how your body and mind may react to no longer having ciagarettes.  It is very common to have moments of crabbiness or sensitivity.  These feelings are easier to handle if you know why you are experiencing them. Those closest to you want you to be successful and will be there for you if you do suffer some low days.

Gather a support group or a partner who also has a desire to quit smoking and ask them to keep you accountable. This is one venture that requires moral encouragement

Itemize the good and bad that comes with kicking the habit. You will quickly discover that the pro side will be measurably longer. First should be the increased athletic activity you will enjoy as well as dollars you will keep in your pocket. The price of cigarettes seems to go up everyday. Your children should actually be at the top of your list.  Your kids mimic you and aspire to be like you.  Tack this chart where you can see it each day.  Whenever you get the urge to smoke, read the list of pros.
