Some Simple Tips to Quit Smoking
Sometimes when overcoming something, we need some kind of motivation. It has to hurt more to continue the habit than it does to feel good while doing the habit. To quit smoking, there should be some sort of motivation to do so.
It's unfortunate that the medical problems alone aren't a good motivation. I've seen people walking around with an oxygen tank and still sucking away on a cigarette. It's so very sad to see people so fully overtaken by the habit that there simply appears no way out. This is deception and it can be overcome, but first things first, you have to want to quit.
So here are some quit smoking tips that will hopefully help a person go beyond wanting to quit and move on to quitting. Once you've taken the first step which is simply deciding that you really want to quit smoking for good, it's time to find a strong motivation. Find something that you can enjoy when you're not smoking and make that a focus. Just like an overweight person is encouraged to reward themselves with a new pair of pants or top in the new size they've achieved, find something that you really would like to have and make yourself wait until you reach your first goal in your quit smoking plan.
Find a friend to keep you accountable. This works in almost any area a person may be struggling. Whether you have bad study habits that you're trying to overcome, or bad eating or lack of exercising habits that you'd like to change for the better. Having someone help keep you accountable and remind you of the things you said you wanted to accomplish can be of great assistance.
Certainly there's also finding a program that can help you quit smoking for good. Whether it's seeing a doctor for a medical support to the problem or and online program, it is important to find the one that matches you and your personality. A quiet person may not respond well in a group program while a more social person will probably succeed. Other useful tips include adjusting the way you talk. Change the I can't to I can.
Think and concentrate on what you want to achieve and set timetable to achieve it. Very few people quit smoking successfully in just a few weeks. Just get yourself started and continue in the walk toward better health and a better lifestyle. Once you begin to live life without a cigarette, the pleasure that you get from the extra money in your pocket to breathing deeper will eventually overcome the short burst you ever got from that stinky ole cigarette.
